Tapas by Alex Stratta to Open Dec. 17

LAS VEGAS (Nov. 3, 2014) – Two Michelin-starred celebrity chef Alex Stratta will open Tapas by Alex Stratta in Tivoli Village on Wednesday, Dec. 17 serving modern tapas with prominent Spanish accents. The fine-casual concept, in partnership with Preferred Restaurant Brands, will feature a variety of cultivated small plates, including daily baked artisan breads, Spanish cheese and cured meat selections, fresh seafood, organic meat, poultry and seasonal vegetables.

Focused and respectful of the Spanish culinary tradition, the cuisine will range from bold, full-flavored dishes to subtle and delicate flavors, including fried Padron peppers, artichoke flatbreads, caramelized cipollini, tuna belly, shrimp “al mojo de ajo,” chorizo albondigas, oxtail and authentic Valenciana saffron rice. The menu will also boast Spanish paella dishes, inspired by traditional and regional preparations. Menu items will range from $6-23 with features and seasonal specials from $24-45.

“I think ‘the ‘tapas’ menu is a perfect way for our guests to be exposed to different flavors and ingredients,” said Stratta. “It allows them to venture from a variety of the familiar to the adventurous dishes all in one meal.”

The bar will offer housemade sangria, signature mocktails, bottled and tap Spanish artisan beers, wines by the glass, bottled wine and specialty coffee.

The 2,700-square-foot restaurant, with a 95-seat capacity including 38 on the patio, will highlight an exhibition kitchen with vintage ovens, crystal chandeliers and contemporary polished and faux finished floors. Subtle modern lines and silver, white and brown earth tones are accented with vibrant, colorful abstract and contemporary art with service wares in a variety of earth tones and muted pastels.

Designed to encourage conversation, Tapas by Alex Stratta will present a casual and engaging atmosphere emphasized by quality, personalized service and genuine hospitality that Stratta’s name has become synonymous with.

Stratta has personally assembled a team to provide outstanding service, including Szelina Kira Kiss as director of operations, bringing an extensive leadership experience and luxury hospitality background to Preferred Restaurant Brands including Forbes five-star restaurant Tableau, Eastside Lounge & Lobby Bar at Wynn Las Vegas. Kiss moved to Las Vegas 14 years ago to study hospitality management at UNLV from Hungary where she previously owned and operated slot machines as well as a successful music cafe at Lake Balaton.

Kiss brought in colleague Madalena Rodriguez to serve as general manager. Rodriguez possesses a wealth of knowledge, having previously managed at Tableau and Bally’s Steakhouse. Having spent her childhood in Spain and a graduate of Les Roches International School of Hotel Management in Switzerland, Rodriguez brings international business knowledge and her own family traditions and recipes.

Special menus and events throughout the year will honor popular Spanish culture, including the Running of the Bulls and La Tomatina tomato throwing festival, as well as wine dinners with Spanish winemakers.

“Chef Stratta’s first fine-casual restaurant will be located in the heart of Tivoli Village next to some of our nationally renowned retailers like Pacsun and Paper Source,” explained Patrick Done, president of Tivoli Village. “The addition of his restaurant is just a sneak peek of the changes that will be occurring as we continue to grow and improve our retail and restaurant assortment.”
